STATEMENT: Another Two International Tiplines Join Project Arachnid in fighting online child sexual exploitation

The Canadian Centre for Child Protection (C3P) is very pleased to announce that hotlines in Colombia and Finland are now working within Project Arachnid, a platform for reducing the online availability of child sexual abuse materials.
Red PaPaz operates Te Protejo, the hotline that receives and processes reports of situations that affect children under 18 years old in Colombia, especially child sexual abuse material. Save the Children Finland (SCF) operates Nettivihje, Finland’s hotline for reporting the online sexual exploitation and commercial exploitation of children.
Project Arachnid was launched in January of 2017 as a response to the findings of the Survivors’ Survey and the growing proliferation of child sexual abuse material being witnessed by Cybertip.ca. Project Arachnid detects known images and videos of child sexual abuse material online and issues notices to the hosting provider requesting its removal.
Every month, Project Arachnid is detecting more than 100,000 unique images of suspected child sexual abuse materials requiring analyst assessment. To date, Project Arachnid has sent more than one million notices for removal of child sexual abuse materials to providers.
Along with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in the USA and ECPAT Sweden, there are now analysts in five countries working within Project Arachnid.
